Jimmy Sexton, the owner and operator of Jimmy’s Automotive Center in Asheville, transitioned from a dealership background to start his own business with a vision to provide superior customer service and create a supportive environment for his employees. Driven by his passion for vehicles and people, Jimmy is committed to ensuring a good living for his team while delivering exceptional automotive care. Beyond his business, Jimmy enjoys flying airplanes, spending time on the lake with his boat, and cherishing moments with his family. His dedication to both his craft and his community is at the heart of Jimmy’s Automotive Center.
General Manager I’ve been involved in some way or the other with this shop my entire life. Jimmy is my father. I grew up helping him with his “projects” throughout the years and I knew I wanted to be involved in the shop when I got older. I did take a different path after graduating high school though. I was a Dental Assistant for 13 years. When Dad finally decided he was ready to think about retirement, that’s when I came back into the picture, ready to go and help him with that transition and eventually take over for him. I’ve been married for almost 16 years now and we have a daughter and a son and a Goldendoodle named Maggie, who is the “Official” shop pup! We love camping, traveling, supporting and coaching our kids in all the sports, and spending time with our families at the Lake.
Service Manager I’ve been married to my lovely wife for 31 years. We have 2 kids together, Kinsey and Tyler. I enjoy going to the lake, having fun on the water, relaxing and spending time with family and friends. I’ve been at Jimmy’s since 1996, almost 30 years, so I’ve basically grown with the business. Working for Jimmy has been amazing. He treats you like family and takes good care of all his employees. I love having a work atmosphere that you can depend on like family. I’ve always been into cars. Growing up, I helped my dad work on cars and he owned his own business as well. I enjoy the whole aspect of what our shop is about, working on cars and helping people!
Office Administrator I love what I do here at Jimmy’s. I’ve been here for 10 years. Genuine people, family atmosphere, and the team mindset is only some of the reasons why it’s been a good fit for me at the shop. I grew up near the coast of South Carolina, always around hot rods, racing and going to car shows. That’s definitely something that’s stuck with me throughout my life. Not to mention being around water, boating, paddle boarding, and kayaking are things that I still very much enjoy to this day! Any kind of work with my hands, like building things, carpentry, metallurgy, painting, helps keep me busy when I’m not at Jimmy’s.
Service Advisor From a young age, like most boys, I developed an interest in automobiles and how they work. Over the years, I've grown to love working on cars and gained an interest in motorsports, NASCAR and Drag Racing specifically. Jimmy's Automotive is more of a family than it is a team. I’ve been here for 3 years. We enjoy each other to the point where we are more like brothers and sisters than co-workers. I’ve been married to my wife for almost 12 years and we have two children. I love Texas Longhorn Football, NASCAR (Go Chase Elliott), about anything that has wheels on it, almost any kind of firearms, fishing, enjoy lazy time with my family, watching my kids play ball, and enjoying the outdoors.
Service Advisor I’ve been a Service Advisor at Jimmy’s for only 5 months now, but it already feels like family. The honesty and professionalism are really what drew me in. I’ve always had a love for cars and I am devoted to helping people. My wife and my teenage daughter are my world. I love spending time with the family, golfing, fishing, camping and just being outdoors.
Technician I’ve always had a passion for cars, just like my dad, even though he owned several different restaurants throughout my life. I decided early on that working on cars would be my profession because I enjoyed learning from him and sharing that passion. I started working here at the shop almost 6 years ago. In my opinion, Jimmy’s Automotive is 2nd to none. We are a close-knit family unit here and we are one of the cleanest shops around. Family time is everything to me. I’ve been married to my wife for 15 years. We have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls, 3 dogs and 7 chickens! I love to fish, camp, and most of all, enjoy those things with my family.
Technician I’ve always loved cars, so naturally being a mechanic is something I wanted to pursue. I’ve been at Jimmy’s for 3 months now. I am really impressed at the fact that I stay genuinely busy throughout each week and the work is consistent. We all work together very well here. My 4 Dachshund’s are my world and hanging out with friends and family on the weekends.
Technician/Apprentice I’ve been at Jimmy’s for almost 3 years, since I was a Senior in High School. I have always been interested in cars and engines, so I decided I would like to do it as a profession pretty early on. The atmosphere here is upbeat and friendly. I’ve learned a lot being here and getting to see first hand all that goes into being a great mechanic. I will be finishing up my degree in Automotive Technology this summer. In my free time I like skiing and mountain biking.
Technician Working on and repairing vehicles has definitely been something that comes natural to me, and as I got older it became a passion. I worked on all different kinds of vehicles in the Air Force and that helped me decide what career I wanted to pursue when I got out. I’ve been at Jimmy’s for 4 years now. I enjoy the people I work around and the work is consistent. In my free time, as long as I’m not sitting at the house, doing anything with my wife and our son, and our 2 dogs, is what I love.
Technician I’ve been at Jimmy’s since 2018, almost 7 years. This is where I got my start in my career of being a mechanic. I enjoy the people I work with and the clean shop we have. I’ve always had a strong pull towards cars and working on them. In my spare time I enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping with my wife and our 2 dogs!
Technician I've been part of Jimmy’s Automotive for almost 10 years now, longer than I’ve been at any shop in my career. We have a good team and good customers. I grew up working on cars, trucks, anything with wheels and an engine. I always knew I was going to be a mechanic of some sort. I love spending time with my two kids, watching them play basketball or softball, or going to races together. They especially love watching their dad participate in Demolition Derby Races every now and then.
Technician My dad tinkered on cars, when he wasn’t working at his restaurants, while I was growing up, and my brother was really into cars as well. I just kind of followed in their footsteps, and it’s really become a passion of mine. I’ve been at Jimmy’s for only a month and a half now. Everyone here is super friendly and has made me feel welcome. I like the level of professionalism here while still being an independent shop. I’ve been married to my wife for 5 years and we have 3 children. I enjoy family outings, playing video games with my oldest son and watching European Soccer, especially supporting Chelsea FC.
